This internship provides mechanical engineering students with hands-on experience supporting Fort Wayne's utility infrastructure, focusing on water and wastewater systems. Interns will work alongside licensed engineers on real projects within both office and field environments.
Responsibilities
- Support planning, design, and field verification activities for mechanical engineering projects
- Collect and document data for planning, design, asset tracking, and analysis
- Assist engineers with field inspections, surveys, and system evaluations
- Help prepare preliminary reports, recommendations, and technical documentation
- Complete required City training modules and assist with research as needed
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum of two years of college coursework completed
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working with data collection, measurements, and technical documentation
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt as priorities change
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program with a minimum of two years of college coursework completed
- Minimum of two years of college coursework completed in mechanical engineering
