As the Chief Public Policy Officer, you will lead the legislative and regulatory policy advocacy efforts across banking, financial services, housing, and community development. This role involves implementing CDBA’s public policy agenda, advocating for the CDFI bank sector, and supporting low- and moderate-income communities.
Responsibilities
- Manage advocacy campaigns and outreach on Capitol Hill and Federal agencies
- Monitor Federal regulatory and legislative developments that affect banking, affordable housing, and community development
- Analyze regulatory proposals and policies to assess impact on member banks and low-income communities
- Draft public comment letters and congressional testimony
- Analyze, compile, and disseminate research, data, and written materials on the community development banking sector
- Solicit input from member banks to formulate policy positions
- Expand and maintain databases of legislative contacts, Federal program awards, and impact of CDBA members
- Researching and drafting thought leadership articles and op-eds for biweekly newsletters or external publications
- Supervise development of bank impact profiles and other initiatives to enhance the visibility of members and the sector
- Participate in event planning for CDBA’s annual banking conference, workshops, webinars, and conference calls
- Lead member banks’ efforts to plan and deliver proprietary and innovative banking products that serve low- and moderate-income communities
- Execute special projects and provide general support to the membership
- Supervise assigned staff
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Federal public policy or advocacy in banking, community development, and/or affordable housing sector
- Knowledge and experience in the CDFI sector
- Passion for community development finance and improving lives in underserved communities
- Experience working on Capitol Hill
- Experience working in a Federal executive branch agency related to banking, financial services, and/or housing and community development
- Proactive self-starter with ability to multi-task, excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Effective analytical and research skills
- Strong writing skills
- Robust verbal communication, networking, relationship management, and customer skills
- Strong team orientation and experience managing a team
- Bachelor’s degree
- US citizenship
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred
- At least 10 years of experience in Federal public policy or advocacy in the banking, community development, and/or affordable housing sector
