Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

About This Role

HealthPro Heritage is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to deliver individualized therapy and monitor patient progress in a long-term care setting in Cobden, IL. This role offers scheduling flexibility and the potential to develop into a full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering individualized therapy based on treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist
• Implement activities to improve daily living skills (e.g., dressing, eating, mobility)
• Track and document patient progress, maintaining accurate records in compliance with facility policies
• Report changes or concerns to the Occupational Therapist
• Work with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care
• Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, and strategies for independence
• Lead or assist patients with exercises, activities of daily living, and other therapeutic tasks
• Create a positive and supportive environment to encourage patient engagement

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited school
• Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
• Current state licensure (or eligibility) to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited school
• Previous experience in an occupational therapy setting (hospital, clinic, school, etc.) is preferred, but new graduates are also encouraged to apply.
