This role is responsible for coordinating advising and career services for students, with a focus on supporting the Climate & Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) program. The counselor will assist students with career exploration, academic planning, job searches, and professional development to help them achieve their educational and career goals.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate advising and career service activities for students within the CEJA program
- Assist with the promotion and delivery of career service activities to current students, prospective students, alumni, area employers, and the public
- Emphasize career exploration and academic planning for CEJA students to select degree programs and develop educational plans
- Assist customers from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds with job searches and resume/cover letter development
- Conduct vocational workshops to prepare individuals for work experience opportunities and employment
- Provide career counseling and academic advising to KCC students interested in the Clean Energy Jobs sector
- Develop and present career exploration programs on résumé writing, interviewing, networking, job search, and professional readiness
- Collaborate to promote internships, job shadowing, apprenticeships, and work-based learning initiatives
- Organize and host various job fairs and other recruiting activities for employers, students, alumni, and community members
- Establish and maintain an effective filing system and utilize data to ensure attainment of goals consistent with the CEJA program
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, student services, career/technical education, human resources, or related field
- Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills
- Computer experience with Microsoft Office or comparable software applications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, student services, career/technical education, human resources, or related field
- Experience in career planning and job placement services, vocational education, advising, or counseling preferred.
