Responsibilities

• Provide prompt and thorough assessment, investigation and clinical management of newborns in NICU
• Deliver emergency medical services and undertake clinical/non-clinical duties under Staff Specialist supervision
• Support admitting, assessment and treatment processes within the NICU
• Participate in clinical reviews, rounds and multidisciplinary discussions
• Collaborate with senior medical staff, nursing teams and allied health to optimise patient outcomes
• Assist with the education, supervision and professional development of junior medical officers

Requirements

• Full, unrestricted General Registration with AHPRA
• Demonstrated extensive post graduate experience relevant to the care of the sick newborn, including an aggregate of at least 24 months tertiary unit experience at the level of trainee or above
• Knowledge of contemporary Clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute conditions in the care of the Newborn
• Demonstrate ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising skills, judgement and expertise to provide a high standard of patient care
• Ability to participate in shift work, including night shifts
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications

• At least 24 months tertiary unit experience at the level of trainee or above, relevant to the care of the sick newborn
