The Career Connections Pathway Coordinator provides guidance and career-readiness coaching to students and alumni of the College. This role involves interacting with students, faculty, staff, and employers, while exercising initiative and independent judgment. The coordinator supports establishing and maintaining partnerships with employers in Philadelphia to create internship and job opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Proactively engage students in assigned academic pathways, providing individualized career coaching sessions.
- Conduct workshops and presentations on career planning, job search techniques, networking, and professional skills.
- Facilitate and manage career-readiness outreach activities and events for students and alumni.
- Assist in coordinating employer engagement activities, including identifying guest speakers, career fairs, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Research and report on employment trends aligning with academic pathways and career services industry approaches.
- Act as a liaison between employers and students for designated pathways and industries.
- Utilize department database systems (Handshake, Big Interview, Focus2Career) to report, track, measure, and analyze outcomes.
- Assist the Associate Director with outreach and management of employers for on-campus events.
- Collaborate with Career Connections staff to organize the annual departmental and employer events calendar.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Career Counseling, Human Resources, Education or a related field.
- 6-12 months of experience in a career service setting.
- 2 years of relevant work experience (talent acquisition, recruitment, student engagement, career counseling, job placement).
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Strong student advocacy skills with proven ability to work with diverse populations.
- Excellent inter-personal and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Familiarity with career services-related software.
- Excellent project follow-through ability.
- Demonstrated proficiency using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated professionalism.
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to, diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Career Counseling, Human Resources, Education or a related field.
- At least 6-12 months of experience in a career service setting is required. 2 years of relevant work experience, in areas such as talent acquisition, recruitment, student engagement, career counseling, job placement, or related experience, is required.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Career Counseling, Human Resources, Education or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in higher education.
- Familiarity with current job market trends, employer recruitment practices, and industry-specific hiring processes.
- Experience developing and delivering career-related workshops and programs.
- Networking skills and ability to build relationships with employers, faculty, and alumni.
