Buyer - Intermediate

About This Role

Optimize the overall cost of materials by developing supply bases, negotiating pricing and terms for materials used in operations, and implementing supply chain strategies to ensure execution of company agreements.

Responsibilities

• Execute and sustain commodity strategies, working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Sales, and Engineering
• Understand and investigate key market dynamics and commodity trends, including raw materials, to validate cost competitiveness
• Identify and implement lean savings projects through supply chain and operations involvement, leading cross-functional teams as necessary
• Manage the supply base's ability to provide products and services in accordance with business requirements, cost parameters, terms, and agreements
• Develop and sustain relationships with key internal and external customers
• Mentor colleagues and lead projects as defined by leadership
• Lead annual supplier business reviews focused on strengthening strategic relationships to improve key Cooper Standard metrics
• Support the resolution of critical supply chain issues and maintain supplier relationships
• Maintain commercial documents as needed

Requirements

• 2+ years relevant experience
• Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing or related field
• Prior experience leading teams involved in negotiations
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence others
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing or related field
• 2+ years relevant experience

Nice to Have

• Preferred background in Tier 1 Automotive Purchasing
• Experience leading diverse or cross-functional teams/projects
• Manufacturing or technical knowledge
