Business Analyst - Data & Analytics

About This Role

This Business Analyst role focuses on Data & Analytics, collaborating with business and D&A teams to identify needs, translate requirements, and facilitate the adoption and improvement of data-driven solutions. The position involves understanding business practices, educating colleagues on D&A, and ensuring data quality improvements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business and D&A teams to understand data needs and identify valuable use cases
• Translate high-level requirements into functional specifications and manage changes
• Brainstorm costs, benefits, prototypes, and MVPs with business colleagues and the D&A team
• Assist with the adoption of D&A services by coordinating documentation, training, and change management
• Track progress and adoption post-implementation, document value, and share success stories
• Mentor the D&A team to better understand business practices and needs
• Educate and coach business colleagues on D&A practices
• Assist in the improvement of data quality to build trust in departmental data
• Assess business impact of changes, capture, analyze, and document requirements for stakeholders
• Identify requirements for new methods of data collection and create/update analysis documentation

• Ability to work on multiple projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related studies, or equivalent work experience

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with environmental science, water quality, or related fields
• Experience with data and analytics work, data governance, and data literacy
• Certification in business analysis (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA)
• Experience with, or certification in, project management
• Familiarity with business case development
• Familiarity with design UX/design
