About This Role

This role involves driving Bloodmobile vehicles safely to and from blood drives, assisting with setup, breaking down, and transporting equipment. The driver will also help with donor registration and ensure vehicle maintenance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Drive blood bank vehicles, including Box Trucks, to and from blood drives, operating in a safe manner and ensuring timely arrival.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down blood drives.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies for blood drives, loading and unloading them onto transport vehicles.
  • Ensure all necessary supplies for a successful drive are packed.
  • Maintain supplies in a neat and orderly fashion and follow regulatory requirements for returning them to storage.
  • Assist with donor care activities, primarily registration of donors and other miscellaneous duties to ensure a safe and efficient mobile blood draw operation.
  • Assist in maintaining blood bank vehicles to ensure mechanical components are functioning properly and are road safe.
  • Clean vehicles following blood drives and perform vehicle inspections, minor upkeep, and maintenance.
  • Timely report additional maintenance needs to the Facilities Department when required.
  • Follow procedures to ensure DOT logs and reports are completed.
  • Exemplify BBD's Core Values and meet or exceed internal and external customer service expectations.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL A or B Drivers License
  • 2+ years of experience driving 26 ft box trucks or other large vehicles requiring a Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC), Form MCSA-5876
  • Working knowledge of large vehicle operation, parts, and basic preventative maintenance procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical and technical procedures
  • Ability to prepare basic reports related to vehicle maintenance and identify mechanical failures
  • Ability to accurately enter donor information for successful donor registration into computer system
  • Ability to provide highest quality service to all customers
  • Ability to multi-task proficiently and work a variable work schedule

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience driving 26 ft box trucks or other large vehicles requiring a Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC), Form MCSA-5876
