About This Role

This role involves providing direct clinical services, including assessment, interventions, treatment planning, and discharge planning, for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide behavioral and direct support services according to accepted standards and best practices in I/DD services
  • Plan and conduct supports to people according to their Person-Centered Plan
  • Document according to BSP guidelines and assure DSP staff also do so
  • Perform documentation for each shift worked and contribute to support plans and meetings as appropriate
  • Attend team meetings and report on progress toward goals; update support plans as needed
  • Deliver supports in an ethical manner promoting respect, dignity, and satisfaction for the person
  • Assess and interpret a person’s response to supports in an age/disability/culturally sensitive manner and ensure documentation
  • Identify safety, psychosocial, special mobility, and special equipment needs
  • Communicate in an age/disability/culturally sensitive related manner to people and their families/guardians
  • Participate in house team meetings and trainings
  • Keep all certifications and trainings current

Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in an I/DD setting
  • 2+ years’ experience working with people with a SIS scale of Level 4 for Autism or Behavioral Issues
  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development appropriate to the I/DD population served
  • Ability to assess and interpret data about the person’s status to identify needs and provide appropriate care
  • Basic knowledge of chronic mental illness
  • Excellent communication and group/process skills
  • Ability to demonstrate assessment, intervention, treatment and planning skills
  • Versatile, flexible, and able to perform in stressful situations
  • Good time and organizational skills
  • Capable of coordinating multi-faceted workload
  • Ability to work with an array of mental/physical disabled persons
  • Successfully complete CPR certification and TOVA training

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in an I/DD setting, including 2 or more years working with people with a SIS scale of Level 4 for Autism or Behavioral Issues
