Backend Engineer

About This Role

As a Backend Engineer, you will solve complex challenges in legacy supply chains by designing, building, and operating mission-critical services that transform freight movement. You will embed AI agents, stabilize high-volume systems, and automate workflows to eliminate manual work.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate services used daily by shippers, carriers, and drivers
• Automate developer-dependent tasks to accelerate internal and customer automation efforts
• Embed AI/LLMs to automate decision-making and super-charge developer productivity
• Stabilize backend services
• Own problems end to end

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems at scale
• Strong background in product driven backend development
• Deep understanding of what makes systems performant, scalable, and maintainable
• Fluency with SQL schema design and data modeling for transactional & analytical workloads
• Demonstrated ability to leverage LLMs/AI agents to boost velocity and solve novel problems
• Superior product reasoning skills
• Exceptional written & verbal communication; able to align technical decisions with business outcomes

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems at scale.

• Proven track record of owning problems end to end
• Startup experience
• Experience stabilizing and scaling large code bases
