AWS Release Engineer

About This Role

This role involves designing, automating, and maintaining cloud configuration, release, and infrastructure management processes for GTA’s AWS environments. The engineer supports highly available, secure, and compliant statewide cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AWS configuration management processes and standards
• Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
• Support AWS Code Suite pipelines (CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline)
• Manage multi-environment deployments (Dev/Test/Stage/Prod)
• Implement automated backup, patching, and compliance processes
• Manage SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle across AWS services
• Maintain detailed documentation and provide team training

Requirements

• 8+ years configuration management experience
• Terraform and IaC methodologies
• AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM)
• Cloud backup and automated patching
• SSL/TLS certificate management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 8+ years configuration management experience

Nice to Have

• Scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
• AWS and/or Terraform certifications
• State or local government experience
• Agile or project management tools
• Organizational Change Management (OCM) experience
