The AviPro Internship Program provides a unique paid opportunity for college students to gain hands-on experience across various City of Avondale departments. This part-time, temporary position focuses on digital media to support the Marketing and Public Relations Department, allowing students to develop and execute communication strategies through video, photos, graphics, and writing.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of digital media for the City through storytelling
- Utilize video, photos, graphics, and writing to educate residents about City programs, services, events, and initiatives
- Film and edit video projects
- Take photos at City events
- Assist in creating graphics and captions
- Play a key role in developing social media campaigns, short- and long-form video
- Assist in the production of the RAVE magazine
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited community college or four-year college/university
- Proficiency in Adobe After Effects
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
- Comfortable using a camera for photos and videography
- Proficient in creating social media posts for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and NextDoor
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient in creating engaging content that promotes City programs, services, events, and initiatives
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Valid Arizona Driver's License by time of hire
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled at an accredited community college or four-year college/university with a major or field of study related to Digital Media or Marketing & Public Relations
- No direct local government experience required

- Interest in local government and the operational focus of the hosting department
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience or interest in community outreach and public engagement
- Comfort working with surveys, data collection, and online tools
- Ability to create clear, compelling presentations
