About This Role

This Electrical Design Engineer will lead the design, development, and integration of avionics components for highly reusable space systems. The role involves working from conception through qualification and flight operations, iterating on designs, and contributing to company avionics standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, procurement, development, qualification, and integration of avionics components
  • Perform component selection, design analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, circuit validation, and design documentation for electrical systems
  • Contribute to electrical architecture, product requirements definition, manufacturing planning, and production testing
  • Execute development and qualification test campaigns to ensure reliable flight hardware
  • Collaborate with experts across teams and departments to ensure fielded systems perform as intended, remaining efficient, manufacturable, and reliable

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, or testing circuit boards or other electronics
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomous, and demanding environment
  • Experience with system trades and knowledge of how requirements tie hardware to larger systems
  • Experience designing signal conditioning and analog circuits, digital circuits, and switching power converters
  • Experience with schematic capture and board layout
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools and analysis methods
  • Familiarity with lab equipment for development testing of circuits and components
  • Ability to perform board-level rework in support of development testing
  • Foundational understanding of EMI/EMC principles and common design best practices
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for cost (DFC)
  • Ability to write software for test automation, data review, and design analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Rigorous attention to detail

Qualifications

  • S. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, or testing circuit boards or other electronics (research and extracurricular academic projects qualify)
