Associate Veterinarian

Join Chewy Vet Care as an Associate Veterinarian to provide comprehensive, patient-centric care in a new, technologically advanced practice. This role focuses on delivering high-quality medical, surgical, and dental procedures while educating pet parents and maintaining accurate records to ensure the best outcomes for pets.

Responsibilities

• Empower the team to deliver an unparalleled client experience
• Develop a rapport with clients and resolve their needs and wishes
• Perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures to deliver quality care minimizing stress and discomfort of patients
• Perform basic surgery
• Explain physical examination findings and communicate a diagnosis of the pet’s condition
• Generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client
• Educate clients on preventative health care, including vaccines and appropriate nutritional products
• Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and ensure all logs are kept up to date
• Stay current with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine, attend continuing education meetings
• Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD)
• Active State license in good standing
• DEA license and other state credentials as required
• 2-3 years’ experience in general medicine and surgery; residency or internship trained
• Outstanding listening and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable collaborating with other veterinary professionals in a team-oriented environment
• Passionate about helping people and pets with compassion and excellent customer service focus
• Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced, self-starter environment

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD)
• 2-3 years’ experience in general medicine and surgery; residency or internship trained

Nice to Have

• 2 years of supervised experience with veterinary radiation machines
