Associate Superintendent for Finance

About This Role

Lead and manage the fiscal policies, accounting, budgeting, cash management, payroll, purchasing, tax collections, warehousing, school nutrition, risk management, elections, fixed asset records, bond issues, and debt management for Spring Branch Independent School District.

Responsibilities

• Ensure business operations support instructional goals, including Finance, Tax Office, School Nutrition, and Procurement
• Develop long and short-range objectives and goals for District financial operations
• Achieve cost-effective practices throughout the District
• Compile District, campus, and program budgets and cost estimates
• Prepare and submit the budget to the Board of Trustees for approval
• Responsible for the financial reporting for the District
• Monitor the budget monthly and keep administration and the Board of Trustees informed
• Assist District administrators in managing budgeted funds and activity funds
• Responsible for District cash management
• Keep Superintendent and Board of Trustees apprised of changes in school finance
• Monitor District financial operations for compliance with state and federal laws
• Oversee District election process
• Supervise and evaluate staff

Requirements

• Certified Public Accountant license
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar field
• Ability to develop and implement policy and procedures
• Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
• Strong knowledge and understanding of public school finance
• Ability to interpret school finance laws and their effect on the school district
