About This Role

This role supports the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors capable of making transformational philanthropic contributions to Harvard University's American Repertory Theater. The Associate Director will manage a portfolio of principal gifts prospects to secure funding for institutional priorities and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of 90 active prospects, donors, and volunteer leaders with capacity to give $1 million or more
  • Build professional relationships with prospects and facilitate a network of relationships with A.R.T. leaders
  • Match donor interests with A.R.T. needs and opportunities to raise funds for programming, community engagement, and pedagogical needs
  • Develop and maintain meaningful stewardship with donors to the A.R.T.
  • Meet expectations for moves management and other metrics as defined by the Chief Development Officer
  • Partner with senior leadership and the A.R.T. development team to design meaningful cultivation experiences, proposals, and stewardship plans
  • Attend A.R.T. events and performances to connect with donors and steward relationships
  • Travel as needed, especially to New York City, to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors (may involve international travel)
  • Plan, staff, and brief senior staff for substantive, strategic prospect/donor visits and events
  • Collaborate with the University Development Office on resources, events, communications, and stewardship to advance principal gifts
  • Work with volunteer leaders to advance prospect and donor activity

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of fundraising experience with high-net-worth individuals
  • Proven track record of developing strategies for multimillion-dollar solicitations
  • Successful experience raising principal-level gifts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of related experience as a seasoned fundraising professional with proven experience engaging high-net-worth individuals and a successful track record of developing strategies for multimillion-dollar, complex solicitations and raising principal-level gifts.
