The Associate Buyer-Commodity Professional will support the expansion and management of internal Supply Chain processes, contributing to operational efficiencies and managing Saab, Inc.'s supplier base. This role involves database management, document support, supplier onboarding, purchase order close-out, and quote evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Manage Supply Chain database
- Support updates for Supply Chain document repository, including SOPs and manuals
- Organize Supply Chain electronic files
- Create learning and development presentations for training classes
- Manage supplier onboarding process and paperwork
- Close out open purchase orders through cross-functional collaboration
- Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers
- Coordinate resolution of invoice discrepancies
- Identify and qualify potential suppliers
- Maintain an understanding of FAR and DFAR processes and drive improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline
- Ability to work onsite in the East Syracuse location
- Understanding of Supply Chain and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to quickly learn government contracting processes (FAR and DFARS)
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently
- U.S. Citizenship
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of or experience with Department of Defense (DoD) procurements and contracts
- Prior work experience in Legal, Contracts, Procurement, or Supply Chain-related field
