About This Role

Lead and manage the Northeast Region field underwriting operations for a national insurance carrier. Drive strategic execution, operational excellence, and team development while ensuring profitability and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Northeast Region territory underwriting strategy execution and performance to drive profitability, compliance, and operational efficiency
  • Adhere to established countrywide appetite underwriting guidelines while developing supplemental regional guidance
  • Foster collaboration with internal stakeholders and agency partners, leveraging data-driven insights to enhance pricing accuracy and risk assessment
  • Ensure underwriting quality, compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and drive continuous innovation
  • Lead team development, providing training, coaching, and succession planning for a high-performing underwriting unit
  • Represent underwriting in strategic planning, drive agency engagement, and enhance operational effectiveness
  • Collaborate closely with Field and Corporate Office Underwriting and Sales leadership

Requirements

  • 10+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience
  • 4+ years of experience directly leading and developing teams
  • Extensive expertise in underwriting principles and risk management strategies
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities
  • Strong ability to lead large-scale initiatives and manage multiple cross-functional projects
  • Demonstrated success working in cross-functional/departmental alignment and matrixed management structure
  • Advanced ability to design and execute strategic business plans
  • Exceptional written communication, public speaking and facilitation skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in insurance or business administration or equivalent relevant experience
  • 10+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience, including at least 4 years of experience directly leading and developing teams
