This Assistant Teacher role supports the emotional and educational needs of young children by assisting Lead Teachers in creating and maintaining an enriched learning environment. The position focuses on implementing developmentally appropriate programs and curriculum based on NAEYC Accreditation Standards and individual child assessment data.
Responsibilities
- Support the emotional and educational needs of all young children
- Assist Lead Teachers with preparing and maintaining an enriched learning environment for individual children
- Implement developmentally appropriate programs according to NAEYC Accreditation Standards
- Help the Lead Teacher assess the needs of each child in their classroom
- Use assessment data to differentiate and individualize instruction to support each child’s developing skills and knowledge
- Nurture all children, responding to their interests and needs, and making learning meaningful
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing the curriculum and developing ongoing positive partnerships with parents
- Provide responsive and respectful care for individual needs of children
- Supervise and evaluate all classroom staff, volunteers, and practicum students in the Lead Teacher's absence
- Maintain a safe and sanitary environment
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret written information
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of children, parents, and staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant professional experience
- Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience
