Assistant Girls Basketball Coach - Middle School

About This Role

Assist the head coach in instructing middle school athletes in fundamental basketball skills, strategy, and physical training to develop individual and team success. Provide instruction that fosters moral values, social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in various aspects of the sport-specific program, supervising and monitoring all athletes and activities to ensure high standards.
• Conduct self professionally, serving as a role model for coaches and student athletes.
• Work with the head coach to ensure practice periods adhere to time limits set by the Athletic Director and CHSAA.
• Promote effective communication between schools and the community to support program improvement.
• Attend all sport-specific athletic practices and games.
• Assist head coach during summer athletic camp activities to promote the sport.
• Responsible for the general upkeep, protection, and inventory of equipment.
• Be available to assist in preparing practice and game field/court.
• Communicate and adhere to training rules and unique sport regulations to each participant.
• Maintain good public relations with media, booster clubs, parents, officials, volunteers, fans, and opponents.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an effective coach in the assigned sport
• Ability to organize, direct, and supervise a districtwide sport program
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport
• Knowledge of CHSAA rules, regulations, policies and procedures

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience as an effective coach in the assigned sport
