About This Role

This position serves as the 1st Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Women's Soccer, providing teaching, coaching, and technical expertise to help student-athletes achieve their highest competitive potential. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of student-athletes and assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of a highly competitive Division I program.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize sound teaching techniques in the conduct of game preparation and practice sessions
  • Assist in making strategic decisions in contest situations
  • Effectively prepare and organize pre-season, and post-season conditioning programs and practice sessions
  • Oversee the strength and conditioning development of the athletes
  • Assist the Head Coach in the elevation of the student-athlete
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for the student-athletes
  • Abide by and promote the aims, goals, and objectives established by the Athletic Director and Head Coach
  • Know, understand, and assure that the student-athletes abide by all University, Atlantic 10, and NCAA Rules and Regulations
  • Act as Team Liaison to Equipment Office staff for ordering, monitoring, and controlling all team equipment
  • Participate in fundraising efforts and special events

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field, training or a combination of education and work experience at a level that equates to degree
  • Competitive collegiate soccer experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to adhere NCAA, conference, and Commonwealth rules and regulations
  • Ability to work with sensitive private student-athlete information
  • Valid driver's license that meets all of GMU’s requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment
  • CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field, training or a combination of education and work experience at a level that equates to degree

Nice to Have

  • US Soccer/UEFA
  • Demonstrated experience coaching or assisting at the high school and/or college level (generally two or more years)
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Demonstrated ability to fundraise
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit on- and off- campus soccer players

Certifications

CPR/AED Certification (Required)
