About This Role

This role is responsible for assembling various parts and installing refrigeration system components into refrigerated and heated units for ITW Food Equipment Group. The assembler will follow detailed instructions and drawings to build units, ensuring quality and adherence to safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety rules and policies
  • Read job traveler instructions and drawings to determine build requirements and report discrepancies
  • Measure and cut wire, solder ends, and crimp connectors and terminals using hand tools
  • Bend, cut, and crimp component leads for wiring harness mounting and test/repair assemblies
  • Order and assemble parts according to job traveler instructions and material lists
  • Maintain and operate spot-welding and punch machines for hinges and lockkeepers
  • Assemble hinges, brackets, and gaskets onto unit doors
  • Install industrial and commercial refrigerating system components into cabinets based on blueprints
  • Drill holes and install mounting brackets/hangers according to specifications
  • Replace or adjust defective/worn parts to repair systems
  • Set up units, doors, and drawers for the foaming process
  • Apply cleaning solutions to production assemblies and subassemblies
  • Clean unit interiors/exteriors, attach UL data plate, and sign off job traveler
  • Attach skids to units
  • Inspect products and processes to ensure quality standards are met

Requirements

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions for assembly
  • Capable of using small hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability
  • Ability to read and understand part requirements and obtain correct parts
  • Ability to assemble components by reading and following diagrams

Qualifications

  • Entry level position, no specific years of experience listed but mechanical aptitude is required.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of and ability to use wiring test machines
  • Experience with electrical, mechanical and pneumatic testing equipment
  • Experience with advanced wiring techniques (cutting, splicing, hypot, testing)
  • Ability to read and understand production and delivery schedules
