ARS Unloader

About This Role

This role is responsible for the safe and quality handling of customer and company property by moving vehicles on and off railroad equipment. The position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires handling both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Safely adjust rail cars to set up unloading
• Safely move vehicles off rail cars for pick up or shipment
• Drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles, including oversized vehicles
• Work in tight and narrow spaces
• Participate in job briefings with Supervisors and crew
• Wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required, including safety vest, high vis shirts, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toe boots
• Maintain clear communication with other crew members while moving vehicles
• Inspect all rail equipment and vehicles for damage and notify operators and supervisors if found
• Handle all rail equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently
• Maintain awareness and organization within the auto yard facility, paying attention to ground surfaces for hazards

Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• Ability to maintain eRail certification credentials
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in all outdoor conditions (rain, snow, ice, heat, wind, cold)
• Ability to physically bend, squat, lean, and move plates to span rail cars
• Ability to see and hear moving equipment
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays
