Armed Security Guard Supervisor

About This Role

Supervise and coordinate the daily performance of an internal armed security guard staff across multiple facilities. Ensure the security of MSD property and personnel through established practices, training, and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and oversee the daily performance of MSD’s internal armed security guard staff, carrying a firearm as required
• Supervise and coordinate guards’ participation in investigations of theft, misconduct, equipment injury and accidents
• Uphold established security practices, policies, and procedures
• Oversee activities to reduce/deter the risk of violence in the workplace and provide a safe working environment
• Oversee security guard staff in the protection of MSD property from intrusion, vandalism, abuse, interference, trespass, or any unlawful acts
• Oversee daily workflow, work shifts, and assignments; develop and designate schedules and account for staff availability
• Monitor staff working hours and schedules to minimize overtime and ensure equitable distribution of working hours
• Conduct regular site walk-throughs, patrols, and inspections of guard posts to ensure equipment is working properly
• Develop and oversee the training program for new hires, including safety protocols and emergency response procedures
• Supervise and schedule annual firearm qualification training, ensuring adherence to accredited programs and maintaining records
• Routinely perform risk assessments to pinpoint vulnerabilities in post orders and daily operations and develop corrective actions

Requirements

• Associate degree in criminal justice, security management or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
• Three or more years of related security/law enforcement experience
• Possess a valid Armed Guard License issued by Louisville Metro Department of Codes and Regulations prior to the start of work
• Possess a valid concealed carry deadly weapon permit (CCDW)
• Possess and provide a suitable firearm for use on post
• Possess a valid driver's license
• Safe work and driving habits
• Ability to be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week

Qualifications

• Associate degree in criminal justice, security management or a related field
• 3+ years of related security/law enforcement experience, with 1+ year of supervisory experience preferred
