About This Role

This role involves overseeing the daily operations of students and classrooms, collaborating with the teaching team, and ensuring compliance with licensing requirements in an early childhood education program. The Head Teacher will foster a nurturing environment and support children's developmental needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct daily operations for students and classrooms under the direction of Site Supervisor and Area Director
  • Adhere to all NBCC policies and procedures
  • Maintain general housekeeping tasks in cooperation with the teaching team for a professional environment
  • Engage in regular self-assessment/goal setting and participate in timely evaluation of job performance
  • Conduct staff evaluations for direct reports in collaboration with the Site Supervisor
  • Verify payroll, sickness, and vacation time for direct reports
  • Attend all scheduled NBCC Staff Development Days, staff, and planning meetings, and other mandated NBCC events
  • Support the teaching team in implementing child behavior plans, intervention, and resource referrals
  • Foster positive self-esteem in children through respectful interactions and consideration of cultural/ethnic backgrounds
  • Plan and implement diverse, age-appropriate activities consistent with NBCC philosophies and Industry “Best Practices”
  • Implement curriculum and activities supporting NBCC’s Culture of Health
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and inviting arrangement in all classrooms, including outside play areas
  • Maintain required supervision of children at all times in accordance with California State Licensing regulations
  • Conduct ongoing Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) assessments on children in cooperation with the teaching team
  • Utilize Environmental Rating Scales (ECERS) and DRDP’s to plan and implement curriculum
  • Maintain and update classroom documents including lesson plans, schedules, meal counts, and child sign-in/out sheets
  • Report all staff and child illness, absences, and injuries to the Site Supervisor
  • Coordinate program activities such as Parent Orientations and Conferences with Program Director or Site Supervisor
  • Develop meaningful relationships with parents through open communication
  • Produce a weekly/monthly newsletter for parents

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in ECE Programs
  • 24 ECE units plus 16 General Education units and 6 in specialization area/2 Units in Adult Supervision
  • Associate degree or higher
  • Eligible for Site Supervisor Permit
  • Solid working knowledge of Community Care Licensing requirements
  • Solid working knowledge of California Department of Education requirements
  • Solid working knowledge of Industry “Best Practices”
  • Obtain and maintain certification of Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher with 24 ECE units plus 16 General Education units and 6 in a specialization area/2 Units in Adult Supervision
  • 5 Years of experience in ECE Programs

  • Proficient in written and spoken Spanish language skills
