The Animal Shelter Manager will supervise, manage, and participate in all aspects of animal services operations, ensuring proper animal care and attention. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and developing programs within animal services to support staff and the community.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, manage, and participate in all aspects of animal services operations.
- Ensure proper care and attention is provided to all animals in the shelter's custody.
- Plan, organize, and develop programs within animal services operations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in consultation with the Sheriff and staff.
- Participate in all aspects of kennel operations including customer service, transport, cleaning, and adoptions.
- Work closely with veterinarians to develop and implement disease prevention, control, and health protocols.
- Prepare and control the budget.
- Instrumental in media relations, fundraisers, and outreach programs.
- Oversee and perform euthanasia.
- Prepare reports, budgets, and keep records.
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED
- Minimum of 4 years experience dealing with the public and in animal care/handling
- Must obtain State of Oregon euthanasia certificate within one year of employment
- Oregon Driver's License required within 30 days of hire
- Knowledge of all aspects of animal services operations, pertinent laws, rules, and regulations
- Ability to oversee and perform euthanasia
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED
- Four-Five years dealing with the public and in the care and handling of animals, including but not limited to dogs and cats.
