Analyst – Agency CMO Trader

About This Role

The Analyst – Agency CMO Trader will focus on market making and risk management of fixed rate CMOs and associated collateral books within the agency mortgage desk. This role involves structuring new issue CMOs and interacting with clients and sales to satisfy investment objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide clients liquidity across all secondary CMO markets, including Fixed Rates, Floaters, Inverse Floaters, and exotic CMO securities.
• Maximize opportunities within new issue CMO creation by evaluating different structures off various collateral.
• Work closely with the Spec desk to optimize execution based on client inquiries.
• Evaluate different hedging strategies for books based on rates and basis performance.
• Interact with BNP sales and clients to understand investment objectives and source/create suitable securities.
• Attend relevant regulatory and product/skill training and stay updated with market issues.
• Contribute to and facilitate interactions with trading middle office, confirming daily P&L.
• Maintain open communication with team and management to resolve risk and P&L discrepancies.

Requirements

• 1-4+ years’ previous work experience, ideally in a trading capacity
• Direct experience in Mortgages
• Capital markets knowledge

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or a related / STEM field
• 1-4+ years’ previous work experience, ideally in a trading capacity
