This role is for an Ambulatory Pediatrics PRN MA/LPN who will coordinate interdisciplinary patient care using the nursing process. The LPN will be responsible for promoting and restoring patient health by collaborating with physicians and providing physical and psychological support.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and prepare them for examination or procedure, recording health history and abnormal conditions for the physician
- Obtain vital signs and perform required screens
- Accurately and safely administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medication as ordered, observing and reporting patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments
- Assist with preparation of supplies and equipment, aiding the physician or advanced practice provider during treatment, examination, and testing
- Ensure patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner, forwarding charts as appropriate
- Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments; arrange referrals to specialists and obtain pre-authorizations
- Collect, document, and deliver lab specimens; obtain lab results and other reports and enter into EMR if needed
- Notify patients of test results and follow-up appointments, referring to RN/MD for patient education
- Review with patient/family medications, treatment, and after visit instructions
- Respond to and screen telephone calls for referral to RN or physician
- Coordinate pre-visit planning by reviewing EMR to include patient history and proactively order labs and other tests based on approved clinic protocols
- Complete necessary forms (e.g., FMLA, DME, Home Health orders) and obtain physician signatures
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited licensed practical nurse program
- High School Graduate or GED
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Multi-State (Kansas and/or Missouri)
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED, Graduation from an accredited licensed practical nurse program
Nice to Have
- Previous medical office experience
Certifications
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
