This role will support airfield construction programs, focusing on runway and taxiway rehabilitation projects. The inspector will ensure quality assurance by monitoring, documenting, and verifying construction field activities to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Support the Construction Manager and/or Resident Engineer to deliver high-quality airfield construction projects
- On-site Resident QA Inspector, ensure that construction activities adhere to project specifications, quality standards, and FAA requirements
- Conduct thorough inspections and observations of contractor/subcontractor activities, ensuring alignment with approved construction plans, safety standards, and quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) protocols
- Verify utility installations in accordance with project requirements including but not limited to storm drain, underdrain, airfield electrical, and associated structures
- Provide consistent updates on construction progress, noting any deviations and corrective measures taken
- Verify and review as-built documentation for accurate project records
- Utilize construction management software (e.g., Procore, Unifier)
- Coordinate and facilitate access for Air Operations Area (AOA) activities
- Ensure contractor compliance with client’s safety, environmental, and FAA regulations
- Be proactive in identifying and addressing potential safety issues, ensuring all construction work aligns with strict safety protocols
Requirements
- Verified construction QA inspection experience, with a focus on airfield projects
- Strong capability in interpreting construction plans and specifications
- Ability to obtain airport badge that may include a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA)
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain detailed, accurate project documentation
Qualifications
- Verified construction QA inspection experience, with a focus on airfield projects.
Nice to Have
- Major asphalt pavement construction and inspection experience
- Concrete and utility experience
- Prior experience on airfield improvement projects within active AOA environments
