This fellowship offers a post-bachelor's individual a research opportunity to evaluate biological and chemical contaminants in water, focusing on the performance of water pollutant removal systems. The participant will engage in experiments, modeling efforts, and data analysis to support the mission of the Department of Defense.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the presence and fate of biological and chemical contaminants in water
- Participate in experiments and modeling efforts to assess the performance of systems designed to remove water pollutants
- Apply mathematical models to represent, analyze, and understand the behavior of complex systems
- Gain hands-on experience in data collection using modern analytical techniques
- Participate in statistical analysis and the use of analytical software platforms
- Prepare illustrations, figures, and tables to summarize experimental findings
- Develop science communication skills (e.g. explaining methodologies or results in oral and written form)
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree earned within 4 years of the appointment start date
- Citizenship: LPR or U.S. Citizen
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Sciences, Earth and Geosciences, Engineering, Environmental and Marine Sciences, or Life Health and Medical Sciences
- Bachelor's Degree received within the last 48 months
