Supervise patient services operations, acting as an administrative liaison on off-shifts, weekends, and holidays. Problem-solve and facilitate decision-making related to nursing practice and patient placement, ensuring compliance with regulations and hospital policies.
Responsibilities
- Act as administrative liaison between administration, patient care staff, and other departments on off shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Make decisions about staff and patient placement as needed
- Facilitate and participate in interdepartmental problem solving
- Collaborate with other healthcare disciplines to provide optimal patient care
- Facilitate the delivery of patient services across all shifts and weekends
- Interpret and facilitate implementation of hospital and nursing policy/procedure
- Actively participate in the development and education of staff
- Conduct rounds on patient care areas and evaluate patient outcomes
- Adjust staffing as necessary, considering patient population and skill mix
- Function as a resource person for patient care and respond to emergencies
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or enrollment/documented intent to complete BSN within two years; or, eight or more years of current equivalent clinical experience
- More than two years of progressively more responsible nursing experience
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan
- Analytical ability and clinical knowledge
- Ability to change job-related work practices/priorities/procedures and reschedule activities in response to changing work conditions
- Ability to work productively and effectively in a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and deal with stress associated with a patient care environment
- Ability to adapt to technologies used in the work environment
- Interpersonal skills necessary to establish/maintain effective communication, provide leadership, and develop/maintain productive working relationships
- Leadership and educational skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or enrollment/documented intent to complete BSN within two years
- More than two years of progressively more responsible nursing experience. Management experience, preferred.
