This role offers a limited number of paid sponsorships for individuals to attend a law enforcement academy. Recruits will be trained to become Deputy Sheriffs responsible for protecting life and property and enforcing laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Attend a FDLE Law Enforcement Academy to prepare for a career in law enforcement
- Complete Deputy Orientation program covering high liability areas like driving, shooting, defensive tactics, and agency policies
- Undergo a Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP) with a certified Field Training Officer
- Protect life and property as a sworn Deputy Sheriff
- Enforce laws and regulations
Requirements
- Good verifiable work history
- Accredited high school or GED diploma
- Ability to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English
- At least 20 years of age
- U.S. Citizen
- Valid driver's license for the last year
- No felony convictions
- No misdemeanor convictions involving moral character, false statements, perjury, or domestic violence
- No dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces
- No illegal drug usage within the last year
- Good physical condition
Qualifications
- Accredited high school or GED diploma
