About This Role

The 8th/9th Grade ELA Teacher at Gainesville Middle School East will provide relevant learning experiences, promote student learning through research-based instructional strategies, and foster an academically challenging environment. This role involves planning, delivering instruction, assessing student progress, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of curriculum, subject content, pedagogical knowledge, and student needs to provide relevant learning experiences
• Plan instruction using state and local school district curricula, standards, effective strategies, resources, and data to address differentiated student needs
• Promote student learning by using research-based instructional strategies to engage students in active learning and develop key skills
• Challenge students by providing appropriate content and developing skills which address individual learning differences
• Systematically choose diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment strategies and instruments appropriate for content and student population
• Gather, analyze, and use relevant data to measure student progress, inform instructional content/delivery, and provide timely feedback
• Provide a well-managed, safe, and orderly environment conducive to learning and encouraging respect for all
• Create a student-centered, academic environment where teaching and learning occur at high levels and students are self-directed learners
• Demonstrate commitment to professional ethics, school mission, participate in professional growth, and contribute to the profession
• Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, district and school personnel, and other stakeholders

Requirements

• Valid Georgia Professional Certificate in Assigned Teaching Field
• Effective oral and written communication skills
