Facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting progress, addressing individual educational needs, and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration. This role focuses on teaching 7th Grade English Language Arts.
Responsibilities
- Develop and administer school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into effective learning experiences
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including those with special needs
- Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws
- Acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field through various professional development opportunities
- Organize and maintain accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
- Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum and participate in faculty meetings and committees
- Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment, and maintain inventory records
- Ensure that student conduct and attendance conform with school standards and school district discipline policies
- Utilize current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles
- Utilize knowledge of instructional goals and objectives along with Common Core Standards
- Utilize knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans
- Apply knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Obtain knowledge of computer network system and software applications as needed
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs
Requirements
- Valid and appropriate Illinois licensure
- Language Arts endorsement
- Successful completion of fingerprint based criminal background check (IL State Police and FBI), sex offender and violent youth offender screening, and employment physical
