This role involves designing and implementing engaging educational expeditions for 4th-grade students, aligning with state and district standards. The teacher will utilize active pedagogy and differentiated instruction to foster student learning and character development within an Expeditionary Learning (EL) school.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement curriculum through expeditions/investigations aligned with district and state standards
- Develop and use rubrics to assess student work throughout expeditions
- Support students in portfolio development and preparation for student-led conferences and public exhibitions
- Utilize active and participatory pedagogy to engage students in their learning
- Employ a range of effective instructional practices to provide student support and help meet standards
- Develop in-depth lesson plans that are well-paced and encourage critical thinking and productive work
- Use flexible groups and ongoing assessment for differentiated instruction and student conferencing
- Design lesson plans that integrate literacy and effectively teach math across all subject areas
- Use data to inform instructional decisions and assess personal performance for improvement goals
- Participate in shared decision-making and collaborate with school leadership on school improvement goals
- Attend professional development opportunities including school, regional, state, and national trainings
- Establish effective classroom management structures and progress reporting aligned with school systems
- Prepare students for and participate fully in student-led conferences
- Facilitate students in taking an active role in their learning and community leadership through service learning
- Effectively manage classroom and school-wide structures to promote positive student behavior and community building
Requirements
- Colorado teaching license with an appropriate Elementary endorsement
Nice to Have
- Additional endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education or willingness to pursue equivalent coursework
