About This Role

This position provides instruction to 4th-grade students in a bilingual classroom setting, performing curriculum planning, supervision, and reinforcing learning concepts to meet individual student needs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach district-approved curriculum to 4th-grade students
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times
  • Plan a program of study using various instructional techniques and media
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity and interests
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects
  • Assist in diagnosing student learning disabilities with district specialists
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, maintain records, and prepare progress reports
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and regulations
  • Be available to answer education-related questions from students and parents during the school day
  • Supervise students in various school settings and on field trips
  • Distribute, collect, and grade tests and homework assignments
  • Enforce administration policies and rules governing students

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Teaching license for the particular position as required by the State
  • Highly visionary, with a belief that all children and adults are capable of greatness
  • Deep understanding of equity, especially in an educational context
  • Deeply committed to growing and accepting feedback with a demonstrated track record of receiving feedback well and implementing feedback effectively
  • Familiar with use of computers including electronic mail, the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner
