This role involves programming, repairing, and maintaining automated machinery and auxiliary equipment in a manufacturing environment. The Automation Technician will diagnose and resolve issues with automated devices, electrical controls, vision systems, PLCs, and robotics to ensure efficient production of plastic components.
Responsibilities
- Program, repair, and maintain all automated devices for runner removal, part handling, separation or packing
- Maintain all machinery located at the press or in the Assembly department used in secondary operations
- Maintain all auxiliary equipment
- Diagnose trouble, disassemble, and determine extent of repairs necessary
- Make up repair parts and replace defective components
- Perform necessary welding and sheet metal operations involved in repairing equipment
- Operate lathe, vertical mill, drill press, and grinders as required
- Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner
- Observe safety rules and wear prescribed protective clothing or items
Requirements
- Minimum 2 year technical degree in a related field
- 5 years of PLC programming experience with systems such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.
- Mechanical comprehension
- Strong understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical applications, and blueprints
- Ability to read and interpret prints and diagrams
- Strong general computer skills including CAD (Solidworks and/or ProE)
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 year technical degree in related field
- 5 years of PLC programming experience, experience troubleshooting and improving Electrical Control, Vision System, PLC Systems, Robotics and continuous motion systems strongly preferred
